Programs Classifications
Developmental
These programs emphasize the fundamentals of the
specific sports and good sportsmanship. The children
are grouped according to age or grade category (3-4,
5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-16). Children develop at
different times emotionally, socially, intellectually,
and physically. There is a wide range of skill level in
the developmental category. We encourage our children to
help each other, be good sports, improve on an individual
level, and work as a team. There is no score keeping.
The main emphasis is for these children to have fun in
a positive non-threatening environment. To achieve a
full experience of the program or sport, each player will
play all positions available. No position specialization
at this level. Providing a well rounded opportunity for
each player to experience all aspects of the program is
to be emphasized.
Recreational
These programs begin at 8 years of age. They are
similar to the developmental programs in that they
provide a venue that has a range of skill ability.
Players at this level are again grouped according to age.
The emphasis is on individual improvement, teamwork,
fun and good sportsmanship. This environment is relaxed.
Score keeping is not emphasized. Each player will
have equal time to participate in each game and will
be encouraged to try different positions to achieve a
fuller understanding of the sport/program.
Committed
These programs typically beginning at 9 years of age.
They may or may not have try-outs and is open to the
community. They may or may not involve traveling.
These programs are designed for the child that is
more committed to a specific sport. The emphasis
is on individual improvement, teamwork, fun and good
sportsmanship. There is score keeping but there are no
play-offs or team standings officially recorded. Each
player will continue to have equal time to participate in
each game. At this level the players may be more focused
on specific positions for this sport and will continue
to be encouraged to play various positions.
Competitive
These programs typically begin at 10 years of age. The
program is open to the community, however tryouts will
be held. In the event that there are more players trying
out than there are available positions, players may be
cut at this level. The try-out process may be focused
on specific position try-out verses general try-outs for
the team. Travel to various locations through out New
Hampshire and possible New England can be expected at this
level. Score keeping and standings are recorded. There
are play-offs at this level. Equal playing time may
not occur for each game but should average out for the
overall program.
